Why Home visiting?

Home visiting is practiced for a realistic assessment of needs and is naturally different to the usual approach of visiting an office for an hour or so. Generally I do not find that traditional methods of counselling or therapy greatly help people overall, supported by the number of years you will often find people in therapy with little or no progress. Naturally if you have an issue to overcome you will want to be realistic about overcoming the problem. Whether it be relationship issues, smoking, drug misuse, sexual dissatisfaction or anxiety, you will need to spend time exploring the issues and learning how to overcome them, also working with any agreed treatment or help through hypnotherapy or other means. Meeting people in the home environment can greatly overcome many barriers faced in the traditional counselling/therapy setting through having a better sense of the environment and understanding of individuals and environmental influences.

What about the cost? There is no difference in cost for home visiting unless it requires travelling to another part of the country. You should consider the following when looking at cost issues: Many people are reluctant to pay for personal help, however will pay much money for other things deemed needed. How much would you pay for a new car? spend on alcohol or tobacco in a week? or on a much needed holiday? All such activities can run into thousands of pounds and are short lived, whereas receiving personalised help for something that could benefit the rest of your life can be measured by many people with an upper limit of just a few pounds. The best way to measure cost is to look at how important it is to you to overcome the issue. If it is important then seek assistance. Much like buying a car or going on a holiday you decide it's something you want to do, look at your finances and budget for it even if this means it stretches your resources and requires a loan. If the issue is not important to you then you simply won't do this. In such circumstances you should ask yourself why you are looking for help as quick and cheap fixes can be sought down the local fortune tellers for £15 or £20. If this is not the case then simply weigh up your needs and proceed with seeking some assistance.
